Pupil Premium
Some children who may be in some way disadvantaged educationally are entitled to additional funding in order to help support their academic progress and give them the same chances as other children. It could be that the parents are on income support and the child entitled to free school meals, (if they are in KS2) or it may be that they have been adopted from care, are looked after by the state or the parents are in the armed forces.

The Pupil Premium funding that is received by the school annually is used in a variety of ways in order to improve pupil attainment and to help overcome any barriers to learning. This money is sent to schools based on the numbers of pupils in the school who are eligible for Free School Meals. From 2012-13, it was expanded to include all children who have been eligible for free school meals within the last 6 years. This money is allocated to initiatives to ensure pupils reach their full potential, both academically and socially.

If you are in receipt of Income Support or Income-Based (not Contribution-Based) Job Seeker’s Allowance; Income-Related Employment & Support Allowance (not Contribution-Based); or receive Child Tax Credit and have an annual taxable income, as assessed by Inland Revenue, that does not exceed £16,190, you are entitled to apply for Free School Meals. Families who also claim Working Tax Credit are NOT eligible to claim free school meals regardless of income. If your child does not wish to have school dinners, please still apply as you will be entitled to help with other school payments.
