'Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to the rules." Timothy 2:5
At The Revel, our intention is to deliver high quality PE lessons that will challenge and support all children and lead to a life-long participation in physical exercise.
PE plays a vital role in promoting physical activities and a healthy lifestyle in a positive and enjoyable way for all pupils. Our curriculum aims to develop the whole child, with a focus on social and personal skills such as communication and teamwork, alongside progressing the children’s balance, agility and coordination.
At the Revel, we use the Real PE Scheme of Work. This allows teacher to deliver unique, child centred lessons that engage and challenge every child. Through real PE, there is a clear progression of skills that allow every child to succeed and make progress. The children are then given the opportunity to apply these skills in game situations.
Alongside Real PE, in Key Stage One there is a focus on mastering basic movements such as running, jumping, throwing and catching. The children are introduced to small-sided games that allow them to begin to develop simple tactics for attacking and defending. At Key Stage two, we provide a broad and balanced curriculum with all children begin encouraged to apply skills taught during PE lessons that focus on a range of sports including athletics, basketball, dance, tennis, football, gymnastics, hockey, netball, tag rugby, volleyball and swimming.
As a member of the Schools Sports Partnership, we aim to provide every child with the opportunity to take part in PE competitions or festivals. Recently, we have represented Eastern Warwickshire at the Youth Sports Games in rounders, tennis and hockey.
