Geography

'The mountains rose, the valleys sank down to the place that you appointed for them.' Psalm 104:8

At ‘The Revel’ we endeavour to provide an outstanding geography curriculum. Using a range of engaging teaching and learning strategies, we offer broad and varied learning opportunities aimed at exciting the passions and interests of our children. We go beyond the statutory requirements offering wide ranging outdoor learning, experience days, trips, expert visitors and home learning challenges tailored to meet the needs of our unique school community and its members. We utilise our location and the unique geographical resource it has to offer to enhance our curriculum. We tap into our supportive parental and wider community links in order to utilise shared learning opportunities. We pride ourselves on our exciting and progressive skills-based themes which feature strong cross curricular elements, with a particular focus on developing writing, reading and maths and an emphasis on subject specific expert vocabulary. At its heart - a commitment to developing a life-long love of learning with a strong Christian ethos supporting every step of our learning journey.

Children will learn skills and knowledge linked to their year group. They will be taught to recall and apply these as geographers as they progress through school, enabling them to continually develop.

The four concepts linked to our geography curriculum:

  • Locational knowledge
  • Human and physical geography
  • Skills and fieldwork
  • Place knowledge
