Our intent is to have an ambitious and supportive scheme of work that teaches for mastery. We want the majority of pupils to move through the programme of study at broadly the same pace. However, decisions about when to progress will always be based on the security of all pupils’ understanding and their readiness to progress to the next stage.

Our curriculum is designed to support our unique cohorts and support mixed-age classes when necessary.

To implement this we have invested in the support of the Central Maths Hub. Our school has moved towards the teaching for mastery style with the use of a new long term plan inspired by the White Rose Small Steps in learning.

Additionally we have a vocabulary progression document that is used to inform staff about the children’s prior vocabulary and how to adequately move them on in their learning.

Times Tables Rock Stars was implemented as an additional resource for children to engage with to support the quick recall of all multiplication facts up to 12 x 12. This has been highly beneficial with children’s readiness for the Multiplication Screening Check which is due to be implemented nationally for children in Year 4 during their summer term.

DoodleMaths is an interactive platform which supports learners from Reception up to Year 6 that children can access at both home and school. This tool caters for individual needs, identifying gaps and allowing children to supplement their maths learning at a pace specific to them as a learner.
